We would like to give a big shout out to Cassandra, a senior studying Marketing at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, for completing her internship with Savage Brands!
When we asked Cassandra about what she did to get her internship, she walked us through the process:
“A few years ago, my dad’s company was a client of Savage Brands, and he introduced me to Robin in February of 2018. My next step was setting up a phone call for an informational interview. I had an internship at the time, but it was great to learn about the company. When it was time for me to move on from the internship, I spoke with my career counselor at the Rockwell Career Center, Zach Wortzel, who introduced me to Stacy from Savage. I set up an informational interview with her, and part of the way through, two other employees walked in and joined the discussion. It was a fantastic opportunity to see what multiple roles at Savage looked like. I made sure to get all of their emails and sent them thank you emails for meeting with me so I could learn about the company. The next day, Stacy emailed asking for a resume to apply for an internship. I had my interview with them and I started first of October!”
If you’re interested in a job like Cassandra’s her best piece of advice is this:
“Networking is crucial. Without knowing my network, I never would have found Savage. I had never considered working at an agency before I was introduced, and I was so thankful that I did! My career counselor helped me get where I am. Zach knew the right people to introduce me to. He was instrumental in getting me this job. And if you’re considering going into agency work, remember: The client is always first! You need to be flexible and get them what they need.”
Congratulations again Cassandra, for completing you internship at Savage Brands!!
