If you are interested in banking, but also wanting to help people just like yourself, a career in retail banking might be a good fit for you. Retail banks are commonly known for offering checking and savings accounts, but they also provide a wide variety of other services including credit cards, auto loans, mortgages, and small business loans.
Retail banking is a customer-facing industry so customer service skills are a must. An interest in sales as well as the ability to understand your customer’s financial needs is also a plus.
Positions Within Retail Banking:
- Entry-level positions include Teller, Mortgage Processor, and Mortgage Assistant.
- Mid-level positions include Mortgage Underwriter, Mortgage Sales Manager, Mortgage Officer, Personal Banker, Financial Advisor, and Assistant Branch Manager.
- Senior-level positions include Director or Mortgage Lending and Branch Manager.
