Description and Requirements
This position is responsible for working closely with business strategy and lines of business leaders (“Business Leaders”) to support development, implementation, and management of financial and operational plans to deliver on strategic goals and objectives with the specific focus on supporting business decision making and suggesting approaches to optimizing business performance. This position requires a broad range of Finance, Accounting, and business operations knowledge.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with Business Leaders in the development and measurement of financial goals, strategies and operational plans, including:
Analyzing and evaluating business area operating results and financial position, including comparison to plan and working collaboratively with Business Leaders to understand drivers behind variances that may require adjustment to business activities.
Provide financial analysis and modeling in support of business decision making.
Provide recommendations to Business Leaders that may enhance profitability of operations.
Deliver information in innovative ways in order to make more effective business decisions in part including key metrics and dashboards.
Utilize financial tools to increase ability to gain insights into data to support business analysis and decision making.
Provide cash flow forecasting for the business area.
Directly support creation and management of 5-year pro forma business plans.
Deliver detailed business plans and analytics to enable understanding of financial outcomes of business strategies.
Support business financial modeling as needed.
Support competitive and market analysis monitoring and advising of key business trends, opportunities and risks to be considered in strategic planning.
Support Business Leaders in gaining an understanding of the profitability of their applicable business operations by providing visibility to:
Impacts of changes in key business drivers.
Multi-year business modeling to provide visibility to longer term business outcomes from execution of the business strategy.
Achievement against performance targets.
Potential revenue improvement opportunities and/or cost reductions.
Works closely with Business Leaders to support the implementation of processes that will drive increased performance including:
Business metrics and scorecards.
Strategic and operational planning.
Operational discipline to review, understand and explain variations from expected performance and propose possible corrective actions that should be considered.
Detailed and structured follow up process for issues highlighted.
Coordinate cross functional priorities and resolutions.
Partner with other departments (particularly Sales and Corporate Finance) to leverage all business intelligence synergies across the business.
Providing key insights towards optimizing the businesses market performance.
Financial management/resource allocation/prioritization activities of the entity including forecasting/expense management and assisting the entity in investment prioritization/optimization.
Have understanding of company policies and procedures that impact financial reporting. Create shared understanding of these policies with line of business leaders and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
Ability to apply broad expertise or unique knowledge and professional concepts to develop resolutions to critical issues.
Ability to manage multiple complex, high visibility or high impact projects simultaneously.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Ability to create formal networks with key decision makers and stakeholders.
Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.
Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and facilitation skills.
Must be results oriented and customer focused.
Excellent written and oral communication skills tailored to the appropriate audience level.
Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, budgeting, forecast, data analytics and dashboard tools.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a B.S. in Finance, Accounting or Business
Two plus years of overall professional experience; ideally two plus years of broad financial management experience and two plus years of project management work experience.
MBA/CPA or related degree preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
