What You Will Do
The Lab invites you to join our Finance Science, Technology, & Engineering (FIN-STE) group, supporting financial operations, reporting and analysis for the Deputy Directorate for Science, Technology, & Engineering (DDSTE).
This position is responsible for providing services in the areas of finance/budget, budget formulation and execution, financial analysis, and general business operations. The position formulates, distributes and maintains budgets, utilizes financial analysis in monitoring planned execution, estimated funding, expense reports, and other data sources to monitor funding and execution to provide for proper financial administration. This position also prepares financial plans, monitors implementation of financial policies, prepares regular and special-purpose reports, maintains historical records, analyzes trends, recommends and interprets budgetary policies and procedures, prepares comparative evaluation of actual costs against budgeted funds, and determines rationale for variances between costs and budget.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Finance/Accounting Experience
- Knowledge of financial concepts, including financial planning and analysis, budget formulation and execution, business analysis, and general business operations. Experience analyzing financial data and providing financial guidance and alternatives/recommendations to customers. Experience identifying areas for improvement, including improving internal controls and business process efficiencies.
- Teamwork/Leadership
- Experience working in a complex organization with diverse operations, combined with a demonstrated record of effective teamwork and leadership. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and the ability to interact with a variety of constituents. Self-driven, accountable for individual learning and understanding of financial policies, processes, concepts while obtaining frequent mentoring from group staff.
- Organizational Skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to independently establish priorities, manage projects, and execute complex business and financial assignments.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration (MBA preferred) and a minimum of two years of related work experience or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- General understanding of federal Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and appropriations law.
- Experience with Government Contractors which could include a National Laboratory or a National Nuclear Security Administration/Department of Energy facility.
- Ability to obtain a Q clearance

Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
