The Global Adult & Feminine Care Marketing Innovation Manager reports into the Global AFC Marketing Innovation Director. This strategic business leader will be responsible for supporting product development priorities that deliver on the Global Brand Strategies, Global Brand Profile, and Brand Architecture. He/she will develop cohesive and consumer-inspired innovation plans to deliver financial sector growth goals by working with cross-functional and multi-national business team and by influencing and working closely with the Regional Sector marketing teams, Global and Regional R&E, and Lead Markets around the world.
In broad terms, the primary purpose and function of the role is to:
Create global innovation & claims pathways drive KC 2022 growth strategies.
Drive scale of strong short-term regional innovation plans & envision 5+ year innovation needs based on Global Brand Profile and Brand Architecture that support regional SBP targets & future innovation growth sufficiency across all Regions.
Key accountabilities and business priorities:
Set product development priorities with R&E to deliver Global Brand Strategies.
Partner with Sector Marketing to assess global portfolio and key focus areas to deliver Brand Profile and Architecture.
Identify current portfolio gaps and work with Regional Sector marketing teams and R&E to fill gaps.
Maintain global pipeline initiative master plan to align and synergize Lead Markets.
Help identify Lead Market innovation winners and codify success models to share across regions.
Monitor and assess competitive innovation launches and conduct yearly competitive review for key stakeholders.
Represent Marketing as the key point of contact for innovation and product development touchpoints.
The ideal candidate will be a classically-trained, globally-oriented CPG Marketer with a strategic brand building foundation, commercialization and innovation skill set. He/she possesses a high level of understanding of the R&E process and organization, project management and a record of driving growth in a matrix organization. International experience is desirable, but not mandatory.
This person will have the drive, energy and a strong bias for action while being focused on delivering meaningful results with cross-functional partners. He/she will lead by example and by influencing the regions and key lead-markets, drive collaboration even without direct authority. The candidate should have experience managing others and actively support the development of team members across regions to maximize success.
Skills / competencies:
Strategic Marketing and Brand Management Skills: The successful candidate will have built, budgeted and executed both long term strategic and short term operational marketing plans that have resulted in above average business growth and performance. He/she will have experience in all facets of marketing / brand management (segmentation, positioning, market research and consumer insight development, new product development, pricing and promotions, advertising and digital marketing).
Business / Commercial Acumen: While being a marketer at the core, this person will think and act like a general manager. He / she will have strong analytical skills, financial acumen, solid commercial grounding and mastery of the innovation development process and a strong understanding of R&E organizations. He/she understands key business drivers and identify and capitalize on consumer trends and insights to develop creative / breakthrough business-building strategies and programs in order to influence the innovation pipeline across the lead markets. This person can build credibility throughout the regional and global organizations (up to the level of the regional sector leads & R&E directors both globally and regionally) is key in order to be successful in this position.
Building Relationships and Using Influence : The incumbent needs to be an excellent & concise communicator, driving a clear message through the organization globally. In addition to being a collaborative team player, this person will need to have a track record of building and sustaining relationships across all functions and through all levels in an organization to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution of innovation plans. He/she will also have a strong cultural sensitivity and a track record of building relationships across international markets and in a matrix organization.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, MBA or graduate level degree in related field preferred.
Prior experience supporting a brand in the area of innovation or consumer insights into product ideas (CPG).
Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration at all levels.
Works independently based on strategic direction and requires limited direction to complete assignments.
Ability to prioritize and maintain focus in complex and shifting environments.
Ability to work in a virtual team which may work across distance, cultures and time zones in a matrix with multiple reporting lines that may extend outside of K-C organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
Excellent written and communication skills.
