Summary of Position: Illumina is building out a Center Led Global Pricing Team and is hiring for multiple roles. The Senior Pricing Analyst is part of a team responsible for partnering with broad stakeholders across pricing, product management, region marketing, finance, commercial operations, and sales to create a culture of continuous price improvement using data & analytics. This role is responsible for creating, monitoring, and reporting Pricing KPIs via creative dashboarding for Illumina. Additionally, this role will use pricing analytics to identify and drive opportunities to improve revenue and profit attainment as well as for price planning.
This role will eventually report into the Director of Pricing Analytics & Planning (to be hired) and is based in Illumina’s HQ location in San Diego, CA.
Create insights, identify pricing opportunities, and measure price metrics to support driving performance across illumina
Deliver pricing insights using data science & analytics from strategy to execution. Evaluate performance of pricing strategy and execution across all customer segments and regions for new and existing products. Assess business targets vs. historical outcomes and propose adjustments, where necessary
Measure performance and identify gaps & learnings as well as highlight achievements such as price KPI reporting, price execution vs. discount policy, and performance tracking of initiatives
Identify product / customer / region opportunities and highlight to stakeholders, and shape conversations to drive pricing opportunities and facilitate alignment of initiatives
Analyze and monitor competitive intelligence on pricing – including price points, pricing structures, discounting, pricing actions and outcomes
Understands financial/analytical impact of business cases and the P&L implications
Ability to create, articulate, and present persuasive recommendations
Partner across the Pricing group and key stakeholder functions including but not limited to: Marketing, Product Management, Finance, Sales, Commercial OPS, IS, and Legal/Contracting
Other tasks as needed or assigned
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred. Pricing or Six Sigma training/certification is a plus.
5+ years of relevant professional experience, or 3+ years with an MBA degree
Tactical understanding of how to aggregate and integrate diverse datasets (i.e. customer segmentation, financial performance) to develop key metrics, analytics and insights
Preference for those who have a modest understanding of more advanced data aggregation tools (e.g. Python, R), visualization tools (Tableau) and scenario modeling (@Risk, Monte Carlo simulations)
Strong communication and presentation skills with keen business acumen
Ability to think and plan strategically and balance that with execution and delivery
Experience engaging cross-functionally to drive key programs or initiatives
Location at the San Diego, CA Headquarters is required
Ability to travel based on business and training needs (up to 10%)
