The Senior Manager, Strategic Projects is responsible for establishing and leading large or extra-large, high-risk projects and/or manages a small-medium portfolio of projects. The incumbent will execute projects in complex, ambiguous environments with broad, multi-institutional teams and ensure project results contribute positive business value and meet agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives. The Senior Project Manager, MDC will provide business vision and clear objectives to achieve the vision of the assigned project; as well as prioritize initiatives and make trade-offs based on business impact. This role will be expected to successfully execute projects that are ambiguous and technically complex.
Understand the requirements and overall contribution to business value of the assigned initiative(s)
Set the overall vision and objectives of the strategy for the assigned initiative(s)
Develop the project charter and business case; define critical activities for successful execution
Develop the financial model and return on investment (ROI)
Prioritize decisions quickly, accurately, and effectively, with clear view of the business impact of those decisions
Align and integrate with other MDC strategic priorities
Act as voice of the customer in determining features and scope
Solve complex problems, taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions where change is needed
Act as the single point of contact for assigned initiative(s)when it comes to business direction and input

Bachelor’s Degree – advanced degree or MBA strongly preferred
5 or more years of prior experience in management and leadership roles
Proven ability to quickly learn complex business and/or technological concepts
Prior successful experience managing a large comprehensive/complex project with direct and indirect resources
Ability to understand project and resource interdependencies within a large project and/or portfolio
Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and/or workstreams
Demonstrated ability to effectively mobilize and motivate cross-functional teams and monitor work assignments
