Education & Work Experiences:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics or relevant field of study required or equivalent years of experience
8+ years of relevant business work experience required
Strong customer orientation and strong negotiating skills
Knowledge of domestic inbound and international freight in a retail environment
Knowledge of U.S. import regulations
Strong background in import logistics, global import operations, and Customs Compliance.
Ability to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of each team member and effectively help them improve performance
Proficient in the use of Transportation Management Systems
Ability to understand Academy’s organization direction, structure, and requirements
Ability to understand the necessity of project standards and applying them consistently
Prioritize multiple tasks effectively
Ability to understand the components of running a fiscally successful project
Communication – effective listening, speaking, and writing
Accurately prepares written correspondence and reporting in an engaging, clear and effective manner
Understands basic internet and vendor client/architectures
Computer – Possesses working knowledge of Enterprise operating systems and database design

Knowledge of claims processing both domestically and internationally

Oversees the logistics execution of inbound goods both domestically and internationally to be received by Distribution Centers.
Responsible for developing and enforcing standard operating procedures to comply with all local, state and federal regulations related to shipments and transportation.
Builds relationships with carriers, vendors, & internal team members, and helps resolve any freight problems that may arise.
Follows up with internal customers requesting expedited movement of critical goods.
Ensures that carriers meet the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) minimum security criteria, and adhere to Academy’s Carrier Security Program. Ensures FTZ Security procedures with carriers.
Sets strategic direction for what metrics are used for critical events in logistics supply chain.
Makes recommendations for team on their analysis of incoming orders, available capacity, current lead times, and competitive lead times to determine direction for any required capacity adjustment.
Monitors releases against estimated ship dates and release orders to meet customer date and business plan.
Holds team accountable to ensure that all freight is picked up and delivered on time.
Supports team in creating performance management tools and using transportation management systems to monitor metrics, freight spend and savings, and other supply chain improvements.
Maintains knowledge of freight tariffs, classifications and discounts for successful negotiations
Utilize performance management tools and transportation management systems to calculate metrics, freight spend and savings, and other supply chain improvements.
Responsible for developing inbound logistics administrative and freight budgets.
Communicates daily, weekly, and monthly reports accurately to leadership on a regular cadence.
Maintains excellent customer service relationships with corporate teams, external vendors, carriers and internal DC team members and managers.
Constantly evaluates and challenges current inbound logistics’ practices for long term growth of both DC and stores.
Learn and follow company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.
