Become an intern with the foundation of one of the most influential and oldest continuously published black newspapers in the nation, The New York Amsterdam News. The list of prominent women and men of color who started their careers at the AmNews is long and we want your help to build upon that legacy. Intent on building tomorrow’s journalists and publishers of color, to ensure the sustainability of black newspapers and overall newsroom diversity nationwide, this winter/spring The Amsterdam News Educational Foundation is launching a business management, design and digital internship program to complement our long standing and highly regarded editorial internships. Through the generosity of our donors, each intern will receive a modest stipend of $250 in addition to any academic credit their school may provide, for their participation in this rigorous career development program.
Interns can apply to Amsterdam News Educational Foundation Fall, Winter/Spring or Summer openings for in-person or remote opportunities from 10 hours to 20 hours weekly – all structured to build teamwork and leadership skills as well as provide substantial resume building and career development opportunities. Participants will also be provided with significant SEO opportunities to boost their professional profiles plus ongoing references as they seek opportunities in media or other fields.
Reporting directly to Amsterdam News Educational Foundation CEO/President Siobhan Loizeaux Bennett, Interns will be trained in aspects of social media promotion, digital publication, advertising sales, program and event planning and execution, fundraising, grant writing, graphic design and bookkeeping, supporting our long standing and deeply experienced staff.
Applicants should submit by email in PDF format by MIDNIGHT Friday November 19, 2021 to bizinternships@ amsterdamnews.com the following:
