As an Anthem consulting intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing industry while gaining valuable business experience and driving sustainable end-to-end process improvements. As part of the team, you will work with and learn from talented professionals in various areas across the company (such as Operations, Digitization, IT, and Enterprise Execution) to gather data, formulate recommendations, and launch projects that help us run our business more efficiently and effectively.

This program is tailored to your personal academic and professional goals and is designed to strengthen your understanding of the health care industry and prepare you for future opportunities through:

  • Orchestrated ‘immersion’ experiences allowing you to develop deep insights into the many facets of healthcare

  • Focused and intentional mentoring and support from a team that is fully invested in your success

  • Commitment to developing you and your unique personal brand

  • Access to our extensive training and development resources, tools, and classes

  • Experiential learning with hands-on process improvement projects

  • Interaction directly with Senior Leaders through a series of Q&A sessions

Examples of projects that past interns have contributed to include:

  • Artificial intelligence pilot to predict patient care needs

  • Clinical population health management research

  • Claims operation improvement

  • Enhanced sales support model launch

Qualifications

*To qualify for the program, you must currently be pursuing a graduate degree at an accredited college or university while participating in an internship.

Additionally, intern candidates will typically:

  • Be pursuing a Master’s degree in one of the following fields: Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or a related field

  • Have experience leading projects and streamlining business processes

  • Successful intern candidates should demonstrate a blend of talents and skills including:

  • Excellent communication and relationship management

  • Analytical and financial acumen (including data-driven)

  • Process improvement skills (including data analysis, stakeholder management, application of process-centric methodologies/tools, etc.)

  • Project management skills (including time management, risk management, etc.)

  • Demonstrate a great sense of collaboration and urgency to drive success

  • Self-starter

  • Leadership skills

  • Ability to work up to 40 hours during summer 2021
