The Accounting Coordinator will assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. In coordination with the Financial Controller, assist in consistent, timely and accurate financial management of Brighter Bites financial systems, processes, grant management and records to help meet financial goals. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. This position reports to the Financial Controller and is a 90% remote position.
Timely and accurate delivery of the accounts payable process including but not limited to invoice data entry, approvals and documentation, employee reimbursements and recording credit card activity.
Input financial transactions through QuickBooks and integrate with financial and donor software.
Supports management of the organizations procurement policies ensuring adherence of documentation and processes.
Assist with annual 1099 filings.
Assist with preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Manage accounts receivable process, including but not limited to recording in-kind donations as well as invoicing donors pledges.
Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.
Performs duties as related to grant management, including monthly government grant expense reimbursements, tracking and reporting financial information per grant requirements.
Support Controller with month-end close.
Work collaboratively with the Controller on the general accounting functions of the organization and help maintain the integrity of all fiscal records.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field, preferred.
1-2 years of experience in accounting, finance or related field, preferred
Knowledge of financial systems including Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks and Black Baud Financial Edge.
Experience with a range of funding sources including, federal, private and foundations a plus.
Experience with data entry, record keeping, and computer operation.
Takes initiative to solve problems, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, with the support of management.
