About the Duke Energy Finance Department
The approximately 540 employees on our Finance team located in the U.S. proactively and jointly participate in the business decisions of Duke Energy. Our departments include:
Controller (i.e. accounting)
Financial Planning & Analysis
Risk Management and Insurance
This role is a temporary internship assignment during the Summer of 2022 in the Controller or the Financial Planning & Analysis departments. Business needs will determine whether there are internships in the other departments within Finance. Tasks may include preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, budgets, and variance analysis. Intern will gain exposure to various financial systems and use of Microsoft Excel.
Rising junior or senior currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business (concentration in Accounting or Finance) or currently enrolled and pursuing a Master’s of Accounting, Finance or Business degree
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
If an Accounting student, completion of the Intermediate I and II classes before internship begins
Previous work experience
Demonstrated effective leadership skills through on-campus, extracurricular/volunteer activities, etc.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work full-time (Monday-Friday) for 16 weeks in the Summer of 2022
- Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
