The DG Accounting Summer Associate position will gain experience with all facets of accounting, financial reporting, and treasury management for an independent power producer (IPP) as a member of the DG accounting team in New York. This role will utilize ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite and SAP. The Summer Associate will have the opportunity to learn various processes and procedures involved in the accounting function such as; internal controls, electricity generation and SREC billing, accounting for construction and development entities, vendor management, investor reporting, systems integration, and accounting for income taxes.
This is a 10-week full-time and paid internship that will start on or around June 7, 2021.
The DG Accounting Summer Associate will assist with the following:
preparation of quarterly internal financial statements
transaction entry into Oracle NetSuite ERP system
vendor invoice review and coding
accounts receivable cash applications to open invoices
research budget-to-actual variances
research accounting treatment of transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS
coordinate with tax preparers to facilitate timely tax compliance
Undergraduate accounting or business major entering Junior or Senior year or enrolled in an MBA or accounting-related graduate program.
Understanding of U.S. GAAP (and IFRS, preferred)
Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
Organization and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and ability to problem-solve
Ability to multitask and manage time in a fast-paced environment
