Our Transaction Advisory Services team supports our customers in making better, more informed capital and transactions decisions in fast-changing markets. Economic Advisory (EA) offers a suite of services that include decision support, analytics, econometrics and operations research that assist clients in making strategic and tactical decisions, which are underpinned by strong modelling, stochastic analysis, econometric and analytic capabilities.
Economic Advisory uses the fundamental principles of economics to address client needs in the areas of policy, regulation, and commercial decision making. Combining the skills of analytics experts, sector expertise and economists, EY’s EA practice helps clients assess the implications of economic change. Our EA work draws on the breadth of EY’s capabilities and is underpinned with rigorous, evidence-based quantitative analysis and deep sector expertise. Working with both the private and public sectors, our EA practice facilitates the debate between business and government, providing objective, strategic and robust economic advice to inform decision making.

Through your work here, you will develop highly sought after coding and analytical skills while providing services to Fortune 500 companies, SMEs and government agencies across all sectors and industries.
What to expect
There really is no average day in this role. We’ll look to you to go above and beyond, often operating at a senior level by taking ownership of multiple projects as they come up. You’ll primarily be applying economic theory and econometric tools to get to the root of your client’s problem, analyzing large and complex datasets and building predictive models to come up with the most relevant solution. You’ll also be expected to present your findings in a way that’s easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
Your key responsibilities

Translating data into actionable insights and business opportunities through data transformation, modelling, and validation
-
Synthesizing and presenting quantitative results to colleagues and clients with finance, marketing, or operations backgrounds
-
Building and reviewing complex quantitative economic models
-
Managing your time effectively and communicating progress to managers and partners
-
Sharing your expertise and best-practice guidance with colleagues across the business
To qualify for the role you’ll need
-
A degree in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Business Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, etc.

The ability to work autonomously and prioritize your workload, often while working on multiple demanding projects
-
Excellent communication and influence skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to all audiences
Ideally, you’ll also have

Understanding of basic financial and business terminology
-
Consultancy experience
-
Experience in applying statistical and datamining techniques across large datasets to solve business problems

Familiarity with a broad base of statistical languages and analytics tools such as:

Analytics Platforms (R, SAS, etc.)
-
Data Management (Excel, SQL, Alteryx, etc.)
-
Data Visualization (Tableau, Spotfire, etc.)
-
Programming or scripting experience (Python, SQL, etc.)
-
Knowledge of core data science and advanced analytics methods, such as statistics, segmentation & clustering, predictive modelling, simulation, optimization, etc.
