Based in the HP Inc. Corporate Headquarters in Palo Alto, CA, the Corporate Development Manager will support HP’s inorganic efforts on a global basis, including M&A, joint ventures, divestitures, and certain minority investments. This individual will support inorganic transactions across HP’s Global Business Units acting as a trusted advisor, working closely with senior leaders to establish M&A priorities, and driving deal execution. Reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Development, this individual will be part of a high performing team.
The Manager is a key contributor to the evaluation and execution of acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. The position is ideally suited to high potential candidates looking to apply their investment banking skills in a corporate setting with a world leading technology company.
Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.
Research businesses, industries, and competitors for multiple workstreams using a comprehensive and self-directed analytical approach.
Prepare presentations that follow a logically reasoned, data supported approach, allowing executives to understand detailed analyses in the context of an overarching business case.
Actively participate in enhancing Corporate Development practices and processes.
Develop and maintain strong industry and competitive knowledge. Build and maintain valuation, statistical and financial models that incorporate industry standard information sources, valuation methods, and statistically relevant data.
Interpret and synthesize data to identify major conclusions and formulate recommendations for optimizing business and financial performance.
Facilitate due diligence efforts, own data collection activities, and partner with cross functional team members to ensure timely and accurate analysis delivery.
Prepare project plans, objectives, and deliverables.
Facilitate cross-functional team to execute M&A deals (including daily logistics during due diligence, financial modeling support, coordination to identify the risk mitigation measures, drafting the negotiation tactics, etc.).
Support Corporate Development leaders to design M&A and investment strategy in specific markets.
Analyze strategic spaces in HP’s industries/markets and provide intelligence internally.
Identify, screen, and value M&A and investment opportunities.
Drive internal decision-making process with the help from Corporate Development leaders/managers.
Education And Experience Required
Typically 3-5 years in Investment Banking or Big 4 Transaction Advisory working in an M&A capacity. First level university degree in Business, Finance or other. Recent MBA degree with pre-degree experience would be considered.

Very strong analytical thinking and analysis skills. Shows wisdom in making decisions and acts with a view to what is most appropriate, reasonable, timely & realistic.
Ability to understand abstract ideas fully and logically address project objectives with limited direction. Able to apply logic and sound reasoning to determine the facts of the case and reveal root issues.
Strong financial analysis and valuations skills. Extensive knowledge of and highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Access, statistical analysis, and financial modeling.
Developed business acumen and technical knowledge within at least two business units.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation.
Advanced group facilitation and interviewing skills.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Good relationship management skills, including partnering.
Organized, deliberate, and reliable in structuring work, and effective as a problem solver.
Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills. Able to convey important messages in a clear & compelling manner.
High aptitude to learn quickly, assimilate to new teams, and work well under pressure with appropriate attention to detail.
High capacity for work; able to maintain performance over long stretches of time and during periods of work overload.
