This internship is scheduled to start in January 2021 and can be part-time or full-time 20-40 hours.

Regional Center for Healthy Living (CHL) supports the delivery of clinically-effective and evidence-based programs, products and services for all SCAL members. Programs include online education, Wellness Coaching by Phone, in-person workshops, consulting, training, health content/curricula development and program evaluation. A key focus of the department is to help members identify and achieve their health-related goals through lifestyle management and long-term behavior change.

This team is searching for the following abilities and skillsets:

  • Able to work independently as well as with teams/mentors/colleagues from multiple units

  • Able to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Fundamental analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Experience creating detailed reports and providing data analysis

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills

  • Able to travel regionally among SCAL medical centers and clinics as needed

  • Experience with conducting qualitative/quantitative research and providing analysis on findings

  • Pursuing or recently completed

Expected intern project work includes:

  • Assist with evaluation of Regional Center for Healthy Living programs, clinical reports and business processes

  • Anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop solutions

  • Review reporting/business processes and develop optimization strategies

  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings

  • Document/communicate results and perform requirements analysis

  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management

  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce reports

  • Work closely with internal clients, project managers, consultants and technical/managerial staff

  • Help CHL staff at the regional and local levels develop solutions/process improvements that meet CHL’s business needs and requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a master’s degree in public health, health care administration, business administration, social work or related

This position provides analytical support to a project or department. Under the guidance of a Project Manager/Director, responsible for collecting and researching data, performing analysis, providing recommendations and presenting results.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for contributing high level analytical support to a project or department requiring application of knowledge in marketing, information management, finance, management, economics or statistics.

  • This position contributes to a full range of project components.

  • Assigned to at least one (1) project and expected to produce results and report out as a member of a project team.

  • Organizes assigned project tasks, identifies and structures information collection activities and sets time lines for completion of required tasks as directed.

  • Develops tools to identify and to document best practices.

  • Prepares various Excel, Word or PowerPoint reports and works with Access database software (or similar tool) to develop data extracts and management information reports.

  • May be asked to produce graphic information using Excel or PowerPoint or similar software.

  • Contributes to development of management information and analysis conducted, provides recommendations and assists with preparation of formal presentations to communicate results to various management levels.

  • Identifies alternative solutions to project issues.

  • Contributes to development project plans to ensure timely deliverables and successful completion of project and demonstrates an understanding of various business intersections.

  • Assists with identification and development of training information.

  • Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis.

  • At any time, Kaiser Permanente reserves the right to revaluate and change job descriptions or to change such positions from salaried to hourly pay status.

  • Such changes are generally implemented only after notice is given to affected employees.

  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of a MBA or other Master’s level program with an accredited college or university.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

  • Solid analytical skills, problem solving, project management and critical thinking.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to utilize at a working level Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/ Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SQL or SAS highly desirable.
