The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Program is a year-round educational program that provides students with relevant research experience while pursuing a graduate degree. Students are able to work with professionals in a variety of career fields while using state-of-the-art equipment, technology and instrumentation. In some cases, students can arrange to conduct masters or doctoral thesis research at the Laboratory. Students are eligible to work during the summer and/or academic year. Majority of internships are in science and research; however, internships are also offered in professional and support fields. During your 10-12 weeks as an MBA Summer Intern, you will have the opportunity to choose topics you are interested in, define your scope of work, and enhance your MBA toolkit by selecting projects such as:

Teaming up with a technical expert in a specific field of R&D and building a strategic market report to inform the Laboratory of private and public investment and technology trends surrounding a specific high tech sector. You will recommend application areas and market segments in which the Laboratory’s current R&D efforts may best fit.

Engaging with scientists and engineers exploring commercial opportunities for their technologies by assisting them with customer discovery, competitive landscapes and technology roadmaps.

Working alongside Los Alamos researchers and leadership to address key challenges that technical organizations are facing. You will utilize a consultative approach and design thinking to synthesize a forward-looking strategy.

Interacting with different teams responsible for supporting key components of technology transfer – identifying technology opportunities and market applications to understanding IP strategies and defining market opportunities – to gain exposure to the complete commercialization process.

Attend networking events involving Laboratory scientists and management, regional entrepreneurs and investors
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
-
Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program and must have completed a minimum of 6 semester credit hours (or equivalent) of course work the semester before hire.

Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent).

Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Student Year-round students are required to enroll in and complete 6 credit hours per semester (or equivalent) while working as a graduate intern.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
