We are looking for MBA Summer Interns at our Juno Beach, Florida headquarters for the summer of 2021 to work on approximate 12-week assignments in one of several key areas that may include:

  • Business Development
  • Business Management
  • Corporate Development

  • Engineering & Construction
  • Energy Marketing
  • Project Valuation

Our MBA Summer Intern Position

MBA Summer Interns will each work on a project over the course of the summer. The project will be relevant to a particular aspect of the respective area of the assignment. MBA Summer Interns will individually complete a formal presentation near the end of summer to a team of NextEra Energy senior executives. Other MBA Summer Intern activities include lunch-and-learns with Company leadership, team building activities, training opportunities, and community outreach engagements. NextEra Energy’s MBA Summer Interns typically form a professionally mature cohort group focused on helping each other succeed at their individual and team objectives.

The successful candidate should be capable of:

Understanding commercial opportunities, analyzing and articulating economic value, supporting the negotiation of deals with regulators and businesses, communicating with stakeholders, galvanizing support from internal subject matter experts The successful candidate will be able to work aggressively and independently but also be a team player. Important skills include a bias for action, negotiations, project management, technical capability, and communications.

Key requirements include:

You have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and currently enrolled in the first year of a full-time MBA program. You get things done, get to the bottom of issues, and work with diverse groups You engage subject matter experts to obtain critical inputs and work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You communicate effectively through oral presentations, PowerPoint, and Excel. You have no trouble working independently and managing matrixed support teams. You are eligible to work in the U.S. You want to live in beautiful Juno Beach, Florida.

Job Overview

This job is an approximate 12-week internship. Employees in this role work on strategic pre-assigned projects over the course of a summer. Projects are relevant to a particular aspect of the respective area of the employee’s assignment and related to the commercial strategy of the respective business area. Employees in this role complete a formal presentation near the end of summer to a team of NextEra Energy senior executives. Other required activities include team building, training, networking, and community outreach engagements. Eligible candidates must be enrolled full time at a university-based school of business, pursuing an MBA and graduating in a forthcoming academic year. Successful candidates selected for this program will be invited to participate based on their relevant work experience and skills such as: knowledge of corporate finance principles; strong bias for action; ability to work with limited direction/supervision; project management technical capability; and professional communications.

  • Understand commercial opportunities in tactical areas pertaining to renewable energy strategy
  • Analyze and articulate economic value of various business alternatives
  • Support the negotiation of deals with regulators and businesses
  • Communicate with stakeholders to advance an idea or proposal
  • Galvanize support from internal subject matter experts
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
