Position Summary
NYU Department of Public Safety’s Continuity Analyst is a critical member of the university’s Emergency Preparedness and Continuity Team. An effective and tech-savvy data analyst, creative thinker, communicator, and continuity planner, s/he works to safeguard and strengthen the university’s essential functions. The Analyst will assist with the development, testing, and maintenance of continuity plans and the organization, reporting, and management of plan data in the continuity planning system. He/she will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the Enterprise Continuity Plan and Program, including department interviews, data entry, fact-checking, exercise development and conduct, and after-action reporting. The result of this positon will be an organized continuity program coordinated with Information Technology Disaster Recovery efforts that supports the University to plan for, operate during, and recover from a small to most likely large man-made or natural incident. Additionally, this person will assist with accreditation efforts for the Emergency Management and Continuity Program.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Computer Science.
Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree in a related field, especially a MBA
Required Experience:
2+ years of Continuity or program management work; or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Preferred Experience:
2+ years in experience working in a global enterprise or higher education
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledgeable in the field of continuity and/or crisis management. Demonstrated familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices regarding Continuity. Detail-oriented, effective oral and written communication skills, collaboration and problem solving skills. Demonstrated diverse understanding of technology systems or the ability to quickly master such. The successful candidate should also have a strong drive to continuously improve processes for reduced downtimes and improved day-to-day function. This individual should be a strong collaborator and effective communicator who can manage multiple concurrent processes and initiatives. S/he is adept at identifying gaps and designing solutions that are easy to implement before, during and after a crisis throughout NYU’s global enterprise. The successful applicant should have minimally taken the following incident command system courses: IS 100, IS 200, IS 700, and IS 800. Experience with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) helpful. A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a NY driver license.
