Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Product Management team is looking for an Product Management Intern to join our amazing team. In this role, you will work alongside an experienced product manager on a regular basis, learning as you work on bringing to market features and capabilities that have a meaningful impact on users who are building the next generation of applications running on a container platform. You’ll be involved in the planning and carrying out of the releases of our offerings and new launches, prioritizing and communicating product requirements in order to guide development, supporting the field teams in advanced sales opportunities, performing competitive reviews and analysis, and working with partners. As an Product Management Intern, you will engage with open source communities that support our container initiatives, including Kubernetes, Open Containers, OpenShift Origin, CoreOS, Fedora, CentOS, and more. You’ll need to have great communication and teamwork skills. This is a great opportunity to work on a fast-growing offering alongside some of the brightest minds in open source and prove your ability to be an effective product manager.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Support an experienced product manager in day to day product management activities

  • Collect and document input from the Red Hat OpenShift product team

  • Research competitive solutions, both commercial and do-it-yourself alternatives, documenting their relative strengths and weakness to develop competitive positioning and collect input for new releases

  • Work with Red Hat OpenShift product management and the overall product team to manage releases and updates of the offering and bring new Red Hat OpenShift solutions to market

  • Support sales and marketing activities, including creating presentations, blogs, demos, and other technical product collateral

  • Review and provide feedback on the documentation for our offerings

Required skills

  • Ability to work full-time hours during Summer 2021

  • Full-time student at a university

  • Linux skills and direct experience with Linux container technologies and Kubernetes

  • Skill set in distributed systems, resource management solutions, storage technologies, software-defined networking (SDN), enterprise logging, and monitoring solutions

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Heroku, or similar cloud or application management solutions

  • Ability to inspire others through excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Familiarity or experience with popular runtimes and application frameworks is a plus

  • Experience with open source technologies and business models is a plus
