This Spring Internship is
Part-time and virtual with an expectation of about 24 hrs per week (about 2.5-3 days a week) during normal business hours (8am-5pm CT) There is the ability to work up to 40hrs per week if applicable.
If selected, you will work with your Leader to determine your work schedule.
Students will still be expected to work Monday – Friday and maintain normal business hours.
Most teams maintain a hybrid workplace flexibility model with only a few days a week working at HDQ and therefore relocation to Dallas for the internship this Spring 2022 is not required, but opportunities to travel into HDQ on the company jets (Boeing 737’s of course) for training and meetings with your team are supported throughout the internship as needed or able.
Even with a virtual/hybrid model for the spring internships, the culture and connection with your Team is still a vital part of the experience. Trust us, it is sure to be a lot of fun no matter where you are located!
Interns will receive any needed equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship as well as a living stipend and internet stipend paid out one time on your first paycheck (less applicable taxes).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The People Intern will work part-time as a Team member assisting in the following areas:
Recruiting/Talent Acquisition :The employment intern will work with a variety of the below listed teams to support them in their recruiting efforts. Intern recruiting duties will include but not be limited to coordinating, assist in writing job descriptions, attending intake meetings, sourcing, resume review, phone screens, on site (virtual) interviews and participation in consensus. Interns will also plan intern events, participate in hiring events, and other ad hoc tasks as assigned by leadership.

SWA Staffers (Contingent Recruiting)
Programs & Pipelines:
Committed to building diverse pipelines of students and candidates interested in careers at Southwest Airlines.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Progress towards degree, major, or minor in HR Management, Training Development, Learning Technology, Organizational Development, or related field (OR a minimum of 9 hours completed in HR related coursework) required.
Students must have a minimum of 30 credit hours completed by the start of the internship.
Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as a part of a Team.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.
Previous HR related work experience is preferred.
Strong interest in Training or Recruiting as a career is a plus.
Ability to lift and move items such as tables and chairs in order to set up and break down classrooms.
Oral and written communication skills.
Event planning experience preferred.
Previous part-time job or internship experience preferred.
Involvement in campus organizations, clubs, or extracurricular activities preferred.
Membership in SHRM is a plus.
Previous Leadership positions are a plus.
Part-time – 24-40 hours per week
$18.00 hourly + flight privileges
