This Summer Internship is:
May-August, 12 weeks
In Dallas, Texas at our Headquarters Building
Full-time, 40hrs a week M-F during normal business hours
Workplace flexibility depends on the Team – we expect the Intern’s schedule of onsite/remote work to mirror that of their Team. The majority of roles will allow for occasional remote work.
Interns will receive any needed equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship as well as a living stipend and internet stipend paid out one time on your first paycheck (less applicable taxes).
As a member of the Labor Relations Department, the Labor Strategy & Analysis Intern will be focused on supporting the Labor Relations Strategy & Analytics Team in the ongoing development and execution of the negotiating strategy to maintain the Company’s competitive advantage.
The Labor Strategy & Analysis Intern will assist this Department with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to:
Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data on the competitive landscape to generate insights that inform Labor-related recommendations.
Utilizing analytical tools that further develop the Company’s understanding of its competitive Labor position.
Enhancing the Department’s knowledge of key Labor topics and current events.
Interacting with Team Members and Leaders in support of Southwest’s vision “To become the world’s most flown, most loved, and most profitable airline”.
The Intern may also perform other job duties as requested.
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start date to comply with Executive Order 14042, which requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a fulltime Bachelor’s Degree program with a Major/Minor in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Business, or related degree program.
Minimum of Junior level by hours (60+) at the start of the internship.
Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail are required, including the ability to collect, manipulate, and interpret data and then package and present it to Department Leaders.
Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal oversight and seek out subject matter experts to obtain information and data in a professional manner.
Must be proactive in identifying opportunities to support fellow Team Members when bandwidth is available.
Must ensure accuracy of work.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to quickly learn about new business areas to identify and resolve issues quickly.
Must have the ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
Experience working with quantitative analysis and data modeling is preferred.
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) is required.
Experience in developing and delivering presentations is required.
Experience working and problem solving with cross-functional teams is preferred.
Full-time, 40 hours/week. M-F during normal business hours.
Location and Pay:
Pay of $18.00 per hour + flight privileges
This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building. Interns will be able to work a hybrid schedule that mirrors their Team.
