This Summer Internship is:
May-August, 12 weeks
In Dallas, Texas at our Headquarters Building
Full-time, 40hrs a week M-F during normal business hours
Workplace flexibility depends on the Team – we expect the Intern’s schedule of onsite/remote work to mirror that of their Team. The majority of roles will allow for occasional remote work.
Interns will receive any needed equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship as well as a living stipend and internet stipend paid out one time on your first paycheck (less applicable taxes).
The NOC Business Readiness Intern supports the Strategy & Planning Team in executing on the engagement, communication, and business readiness strategies and plans. The Specialist partners closely with the Sr. Manager of Strategy and Planning to ensure communication and deliverables are in alignment with the overall department strategy and brand.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the NOC business readiness activities and the NOC overall engagement and communication plan as directed by Leader
Supports Sr. Manager, BCs and PMs special projects/programs as assigned by Leader
Supports the collection of input to develop communication content
Drafts communication and supports appropriate review process
Support the preparation of presentations and talking points for Sr. Leaders
Supports timely communication and updates related to initiatives in assigned areas
Assists with writing/editing for various channels
Participates in meetings, on special project Teams, and in delivering presentations as needed
Must possess the confidence to work with all levels of the NOC, from the frontline Employees to the Department Vice President
Confident and effective presenting to department Leadership
Completes work with the highest level of confidentiality and little or no supervision
Contribute as part of a Team to help drive decisions/activities to ensure initiatives progress against the plan to meet objectives
Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Progress towards degree with major/minor in Communication, Marketing, Aviation Managment, Event Managment or a similar degree.
To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).
Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.
Must work well with others as part of a Team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professional with a diverse group, including Senior Leaders, Union Leadership, and subject matter experts
Able to expresses ideas clearly in documents that have organization, structure, grammar, language, and terminology adjusted to the characteristics and need of the audience
Self-motivated with ability to perform with little or no direction
Must be able to handle multiple situations simultaneously with strong attention to detail
Provides high quality, timely updates as required by Leader
Able to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information
Must demonstrate good judgement regarding confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
Must be technically proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Word and PowerPoint
Must be able to master current and emergent PC software packages, including Microsoft Suite etc.
Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start date to comply with Executive Order 14042, which requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Full-time, 40 hours/week. M-F during normal business hours.
$18.00 per hour + flight privileges
This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building. Interns will be able to work a hybrid schedule that mirrors their Team.
