About the Position
The Accountant Senior reports directly to the Plant Controller (who reports to the NA Operations Controller). The Accountant Senior has the primary responsibility to support the manufacturing plant with processing payroll for the hourly workforce at the plant, in addition to monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close and financial reporting activities. This may include reconciliations, audit processes, inventory and fixed asset activities, and financial analysis and reporting. The Accountant Senior has the responsibility to ensure internal controls are effecitive and in compliance with SOX, companies policy, and US GAAP.
Responsible for accurately and timely processing the weekly plant payroll in conjunction with the 3rd party payroll administrator. Completion of required payroll SOX reconciliation and audit documents. Daily coordination with plant production and support staff to understand union contract intricacies to ensure payroll compliance
Responsible for business partnering with local operations team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of weekly payroll, continuous improvement initiatives and as applicable cost control and cost reduction initiatives. Provide insight & educate operations team on plant payroll process and other related payroll accounting policies and processes as appropriate.
Prepare monthly functional analysis (including but not limited to P&L, balance sheet & various accounts). Assist and support plant controller in projects aimed at improving efficiency of processes and consolidating systems.
Manage and assist in the recording, reconciling and related internal controls for Inventory and Fixed Assets in conjuction with other team members. Assist with other non-payroll SOX process compliance and documentation. Partner with affiliated organizaitons on other admintrative and control functions. Work directly with Plant Controller in the successful completion of internal and external audits including SOX audits, Sales and Use Tax and Fixed Asset Audits
Required Education and Experience
Undergraduate Degree in Accounting required
CPA and/or MBA or other advanced Degree desired
Minimum of 1 to 3 years of payroll, accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis experience (preferably in a large corporate or manufacturing organization or public accounting firm) required
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products, SAP & Hyperion Essbase.
Interpersonal skills that establish & maintain excellent relationships & credibility quickly.
Understanding of US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions & familiarity with internal controls in compliance with SOX.
Good presentation & communication skills, both verbal & written
