TPC Group offers a place for its Corporate Communications team to exercise creativity and innovation in the programs, communications and activities developed. As a member of the Corporate Communications team, the Communications Advisor assists in developing and executing a variety of internal and external communications activities from strategic public relations campaigns to employee events and activities. The position requires strong knowledge of AP Style, an ability to manage and execute multiple projects in a deadline driven environment, a self-starter and a team player.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills with an editorial eye, a strategic mindset, strong business acumen, unquestionable integrity, creativity and the ability to easily build relationships.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Corporate Reputation Management
Produce high quality internal and external communications programming that exhibits a high degree of creativity
Assist with writing, editing and distribution of all internal and external communications, such as news stories, press releases, fact sheets, backgrounders and employee benefit updates
Develop, implement and manage the Company’s Social Media Strategy and aligned budget to support key business objectives, including reputation management, community relations and workplace culture
Thoughtfully compile and analyze complex information to create interesting news stories for internal and external media
Complete projects as assigned using online publishing skills to update information, design and create new web content, etc.
Identify, plan and execute community outreach initiatives that build partnerships and leverage relationships with key stakeholders
Develop, manage and facilitate program planning for local Community Advisory Panel
Participate in meetings with external audiences, including Community Advisory Panels, civic clubs, schools and Chambers of Commerce
Workplace Culture / Employee Engagement
Work with internal business partners to develop and implement key employee initiatives, including Health & Wellness Programs
Organize, implement and participate in corporate-sponsored internal and external events, including celebrations, fundraisers, an annual charity golf tournament, student scholarship events and employee meetings
Responsible for the graphic development, writing and production of employee quarterly newsletter
Responsible for administration/management and content development of intranet, which serves as a main portal for employees
Assist with coordination and tracking of departmental budget and expenses
Conduct and manage media monitoring efforts
Provide creative input related to communications activities and new initiatives
Serve as a member of the Public Information Team
Maintain Company-wide Emergency Notification Call-Out System
Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field from an accredited university or institution
At least five years of experience in corporate communications, stakeholder relations, corporate social investment or related field
Public relations agency experience highly desired
Demonstrable experience in writing, event planning, budgeting, project management and implementation
Demonstrable experience in media relations and with placed/earned media
Demonstrable experience preparing marketing collateral and websites
Concise, clear and persuasive writing skills demonstrating an ability to understand and communicate complex issues
Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective work in a team-oriented environment and/or independent work through initiative and self-motivation
Strong attention to detail and deadlines
Demonstrate initiative and anticipate next steps
Ability to build strong relationships and networks across organization and key stakeholders
Must be eligible to work in the United States for any Company in an ongoing capacity without Company sponsorship
Must live within reasonable commuting distance as Company assisted relocation is not available for this position
Proficiency with AP Style
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro – as well as SharePoint and HubSpot platforms
Chemicals and/or energy industry experience preferred
