Description GIS ANALYST (RSTELS-21-1436-Z):
Bowhead seeks a GIS Analyst to provide customer and technical support to the Range Systems Department (RS) at NSWC Corona Division in Norco, CA. The GIS Analyst will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a geographical database to identify patterns related to addresses, phone numbers, names, etc.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Analyzing special data through the use of mapping software
Creating, developing, and maintaining GIS databases, shape/coverage/layer data, and linkages to various databases
Discovering patterns and trends through special mapping data and designing maps
Creating shape files and merging data in layers
Creating heat maps, performing data cleaning and converting to obtain desired forms
Producing reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations
Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types
Performing quality control on the data that is mapped to maintain a consistent database
Requirements •Two (2) year of professional experience in GIS Mapping.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, engineering or related field
Proficient in building GIS Mapping from scratch
• Professional and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) between customers, team members, and line management.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team with guidance from senior leadership and through the use of SOPs.
•Independent problem solving skills, self-motivation and self-direction.
•Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
•Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
•Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret Level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
