The Strategic Sourcing Intern will assist in the development and execution of sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and supporting day-to-day procurement operations. The Strategic Sourcing Intern will work under the guidance of Supply Chain professionals and contribute to improving sourcing efficiency and spend management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of sourcing strategies for assigned categories by collaborating with team members and stakeholders to align with business objectives.
- Support the supplier selection process, including preparing and managing RFI/RFQ/RFP packages, and working with cross-functional teams to evaluate and select suppliers based on defined criteria.
- Provide day-to-day support for procurement operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing decisions within assigned categories.
- Assist in the negotiation process, helping to secure favorable commercial terms under the guidance of experienced sourcing professionals.
- Work closely with internal teams such as Operations, Engineering, Technical Support, and Finance to gather requirements and ensure sourcing strategies align with business needs.
- Support the contract management process, assisting in the review and administration of agreements to ensure compliance with company policies and supplier commitments.
- Contribute to cost-saving initiatives, analyzing spend data and supplier proposals to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Monitor and track supplier performance, assisting in identifying areas for improvement and ensuring that performance targets are consistently met.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations, providing data analysis and insights to facilitate informed decision-making.
Qualifications / Experience
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Supply Chain preferred
Skills & Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ensure accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of purchasing and sourcing principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent with Excel (specifically analyzing large spreadsheets, and cross-workbook operations).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to aggregate data, identify trends, and problem solve.
