Alternative Investments Senior Intern (Summer 2021)
Zurich Alternative Asset Management, LLC ("ZAAM") is currently looking for an Alternative Investments Senior Intern to join the team, of approximately 30 investment professionals, based out of New York, NY.
ZAAM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group. ZAAM was established in 2006 to manage hedge fund, private equity, and real estate investments solely for Zurich affiliates worldwide. ZAAM currently manages approximately USD 6 billion of assets.
ZAAM is seeking for at least one intern to begin in Summer 2021 for approximately three months with a potential to extend the internship during the school year and / or the following summer, subject to business needs.
The Alternative Investments Intern will contribute to on-going work of the hedge fund, private equity, real estate, risk, legal, and operations teams. During his / her time, the Intern will:
Perform research and strategic projects as selected by ZAAM senior management to support, challenge, and improve the business
Present findings of assigned strategic projects to the Alternative Investments team
Gain exposure to investment and operational due diligence, transaction execution, deal pipeline management, portfolio construction, risk management, and investment monitoring efforts
Currently enrolled in an advanced degrees program (e.g., MBA, MS, or PhD) or will be enrolled by Fall of 2021
Possess undergraduate degree from an accredited educational institution
Currently pursuing advanced degree in any of Corporate Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant STEM areas
Taken coursework in finance, accounting, statistics, and / or investments
Taken coursework in programming (e.g., Python, R), data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Power BI), and analytics tools
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills; experience summarizing and presenting information in a way that provides clarity and interest
Demonstrate attention to detail and professional maturity
Adhere to confidentiality with handling of sensitive materials
Be self-motivated and able to work independently in support of project and team goals
Possess problem solving skills, including identification of issues and offering tangible solutions
Show familiarity with private equity, hedge fund, and real estate concepts
