Ascend SC, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, supports our parent company by providing internal consulting services to various SC business units globally. Our consulting activities focus on the implementation and continuing support of SCM projects, development and maintenance of digital tools to manage these programs, and strategic development of SC’s global tubular business. Our aim is to support and help transform Sumitomo Corporation’s supply chain services through strategy development, innovation, process optimization, QHSSE frameworks, and digital solutions.

The Role
Ascend SC is seeking Consultants to join our team who will assist Sumitomo business units in the development, implementation, and improvement of international and domestic integrated supply chain management projects. The Consultant will be given assignments to aid in the development of Sumitomo business across strategy, digital, and energy transitions functions. The Consultant will help create and execute solutions that drive Sumitomo business growth and transformation.
Historically, this position has required travel to our international locations anywhere from 5-20% annually. However, this amount will vary depending on project requirements and general market trends.
Responsibilities
- Understand business objectives and aid in the creation of business strategies and operating models
- Assess business problems, identify process improvement opportunities, and assist in proposing innovative solutions and process design
- Support commercial and financial analysis and modeling for project viability and business value case development
- Monitor, analyze, and utilize data
- Participate in the design and implementations of projects
- Provide business requirements to our technology group to aid in the development and configuration of digital products
- Cultivate professional connections to help drive business strategy and solution delivery
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment, work cross-functionally, and collaborate with diverse team members and stakeholders
- Ability to travel to international projects and support global operations from Houston
Qualifications Basic Qualifications (Must-Have)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related disciplines
- Interest in internal consulting, strategy, operations management and/or digitalization
- Basic understanding of business process engineering, business modeling concepts and analysis
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a problem-solving environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex ideas and requirements effectively
- Ability to learn and assist in cultivating a learning environment
- Demonstrates an innovative mindset with a focus on new ideas for value creation
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
- Familiarity with Energy Industry
- Familiarity with inventory management processes and systems
- Experience with financial analysis and cost modeling
- Strong presentation skills
- Working understanding of digital product development cycles
