The ExxonMobil Tax Reporting & Analysis Center (TRAC) is responsible for preparing and filing U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns, indirect tax returns, and property tax returns for ExxonMobil, and defending those returns on audit. TRAC also supports ExxonMobil’s world-class business in compliance, planning and providing advise on major business opportunities. Typical internship assignments are in Federal Income Tax Compliance, State Income Tax Compliance and Audit, Indirect Tax, and Property Tax. TRAC’s internship program allows students to acquire real-world experience and a clear understanding of what a full-time position in TRAC entails. As an intern in the TRAC organization at ExxonMobil, you will have an opportunity to work with senior management, collaborate with employees, and attend intern social events.
Responsibilities of a typical starting assignment may include the following:
- Gathering and analyzing accounting records and other business information to calculate tax liability
- Research and analysis of current and proposed tax laws and the implications to the business
- Preparing and filing tax returns with appropriate support and documentation
- Calculating tax attributes
- Providing input to Controller’s for monthly and quarterly tax provision exercises
- Responding to inquiries from taxing jurisdictions
