We’re adding another VP to the Leaf & Grain team! This person will receive ownership in the company as part of their compensation and will wear a lot of hats. Info on Leaf & Grain and nature of the work below. All backgrounds welcome, and almost all ownership-level hires to date have been from liberal arts colleges.
About L&G: Leaf & Grain is a fast-casual restaurant company in the health & wellness space. We specialize in salads and grain bowls, and we’ve won “Best Healthy Restaurant” in the 4th biggest city in America (Houston) two years in a row. Founded by an ex-BCG consultant and private equity investor, we take a data-driven approach to decision-making and have built robust operational systems, which have underpinned our success to date. As a result, we’ve built a proven, replicable model, setting us up for success as we continue expanding; we’re opening our 4th and 5th locations this year.
Attractive Dynamics of the Job:
1. Satisfying work
- Impact: If there’s a better way to do something, you have the power to make it happen. No bureaucracy; we are only interested in the best answer.
- Seeing projects start to finish: Identify business problem >> brainstorm and conceptualize a solution >> trial solutions >> see (and benefit from) results of your work >> establish protocols for the future.
2. Ownership work
- There is a big difference between how you think about work when you’re building something you have a stake in vs. work as an obligation.
- First-hand experience seeing what it takes to own and operate your own business without the risks and challenges of the start-up phase.
3. No day is the same.
- Variability in day-to-day and month-to-month work. Constant intellectual stimulation with new problems, projects, and analyses.
- Breadth of projects: pricing analysis to marketing strategy to 6-sigma work to recipe testing to standardizing operating procedures to real estate research and so on.
4. Autonomy & accelerated responsibility levels, resulting in unparalleled, experiential learning.
5. Great culture founded on three things: Ethics, humility, and a positive, can-do attitude.
Compensation to be detailed in offer letter, given the nuances of valuing equity.
