Description
The starting salary range is $16.50-$17.50 per hour.
LeeTran is seeking to hire a motivated, forward-thinking intern to join our Planning department. As a Planning Intern, you will work with the planning department to actively contribute to meaningful transit projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Assist in establishing methodology and utilizes existing procedures of transit related data in reporting for internal county use and external private and public entities.

Learn transit data reporting software systems, report discrepancies, and troubleshoot.

Produce weekly reports to include on time performance, ridership, miles, and hours.

Assist with administering the federally required National Transit Database reporting.

Perform difficult and complex technical research and analysis of planning issues.

Interpret and present maps, graphs, statistical data, and visual displays.

Verify that all Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems are reporting and make proper notifications to supervisor when anomalies appear.

Verify transit app arrival times and bus location are accurate and all tools are working correctly based on the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) files.

Verify all kiosk and electronic prediction signs are correct and represents real time AVL data.

Work with operators on board the buses to troubleshoot AVL equipment issues, including automatic vehicle announcements.

Assists with evaluating proposed route, service, and schedule changes and makes field investigations.

Assist with the development of system plans, including the Transit Development Plan (TDP) and transit element of regional Long-Range Transportation Plans (LRTP).

Assists Planning staff with other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
-
Requires current enrollment and attendance in courses at an accredited high school, college or university and completion of the 10th grade.

No prior experience is required.

Supplemental Information

Ability to learn transit data reporting software systems including but not limited to Clever CAD/AVL, Genfare and Remix.

Experience with or ability to learn Python computer language.

Experience or ability to learn ArcGIS 10.6 or above, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS SDE, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online/Portal.

Knowledge of local geographical area preferred

Strong verbal, written and organizational skills

Days and hours may vary with flexibility during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
