The Dean of Students Instructional Assistant helps to facilitate and implement educational programs and services for Commuter Student Services and Parent & Family Programs. This person is responsible for providing support and contributing to the success of all Commuter Student Services and Parent & Family Programming specifically maintaining, updating, and utilizing the Campus ESP (Cougar Family Connect Portal) to communicate with all UH families enrolled, Family Weekend, Sibling’s Day, and any other new initiatives aimed at UH families and students. They are also tasked with assisting in the coordination of Commuter Student engagement initiatives. In addition, this person assists the office by representing the Dean of Students Office at university-wide preview events such as summer orientation, Cougar Preview, and similar events aimed at connecting our services with UH students and their families.
Duties:
· Help to establish the Dean of Students Office as a central point of information and assistance for commuter student services and parent & family programs.
· Assist with the development of new programs and initiatives to identify student and family needs, increase services and foster opportunities for student and family engagement for our institution.
· Assist with the Associate Dean of Students and Dean of Students Office staff with office coverage, representation at events, event planning, in-person and virtual events and workshops, and marketing efforts.
· Plan and implement campus-wide and virtual commuter student and parent engagement educational and social programs including Lunch & Learns, monthly resource workshops, drop in event during orientation and move-in, and etc.
· Responsible for helping oversee Campus ESP (Cougar Family Connect Portal) for communicating with students and their families.
· Serve a member of Family Weekend Planning Committee.
· Support the Associate Dean of Students in matters related to Commuter Student Appreciation Week, Family Weekend, and Siblings Day including, but not limited to: marketing, promo item design, program design and implementation.
· Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Experience and interest in the field of higher education and/or student success.
· Experience with event planning and implementation highly desired.
· Candidates that demonstrate leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills will receive preference.
