Position Description
Staff position responsible for the coordination and preparation of rate and tariff filings with the FERC for various Kinder Morgan interstate pipeline assets.
Job responsibilities include the following:
- Provide rate and tariff expertise in support of the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of the Company.
- Develop terms of service and rate structures for new services and for expansion projects.
- Provide expertise on FERC regulatory policy and regulations to internal departments and ensure compliance with such policies and regulations.
- Manage and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers including FERC staff.
- Represent the company in regulatory hearings, FERC audits, and customer meetings.
- Maintain and update the Company’s tariffs as needed, including the preparation of periodic filings such as fuel trackers and negotiated rate and/or non-conforming service agreement filings.
- Maintain excellent internal controls and work with internal staff to improve consistency and efficiency of internal processes.
Position Requirements
Required education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or similar quantitative discipline.
- Minimum 3 years direct work experience in a natural gas or electric utility industry environment. Less experienced candidates with a graduate business degree may be considered.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex and sensitive regulatory issues and problems.
- Proven communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities both internal and outside the organization.
- Proficient in the use of business systems (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams) and FERC tariff software (e-File, e-Library, and TariffShark).
- Ability to perform duties with little direct supervision, work in a team environment, follow directions from supervisor(s), lead personnel as required, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedule.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in a timely manner, including outside of normal business hours if required.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
- Graduate business degree (MBA or other advanced degree).
- CPA, CFA or equivalent
- Advanced understanding of FERC regulations as they apply to interstate pipelines, including fundamental knowledge of pipeline tariffs and services, certificate applications, and rate/cost-of-service development.
- Willingness to take on additional assignments outside of normal responsibilities.
